Add From Server (1.2 Update)

Plugin Homepage: http://dd32.id.au/wordpress-plugins/add-from-server/

WordPress.org: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/add-from-server/

After some feedback i’ve made some changes to the plugin, I’d suggest that all users upgrade to it either manually, Or via the new Automatic Upgrader in WordPress 2.5.

If anyone has any problems with it, Please contact me with the details: http://dd32.id.au/contact-me/

Cheers :)

Changelog (for 1.2):

  • Fixed filename oddness including old directory names
  • Added a check to see if the file exists in the Media library allready
  • Added a check to see if the file is allready in the uploads folder before importing, and if so, simply add it to the database, do not mash the filesystem

  1. hi there, I did not have the time to test 1.2 as I had soem troubles upgrading fro mRC2 to 2.5 final.
meanwhile one related question: is tehre a way to “move” the links that pointed to my old files, to the newly imported ones? so I could safely delete old pictures/media after importing with your plugin to the new media library?
have you thought about my question to somehow sort the newly imported pictures by their “old” date? if I just import all old pictures, media manager puts them into one gallery as it seems it makes a gallery for all pictures uplaoded on a certai nday if I am not msitaken.

Once you import the locations on the filesystem should not change(if it was in the uploads directory), and as such, it should retain the old URL and date.

1.2 puts the files into a folder based on the files modification time, rather than the current time

Thats correct, The Gallery functionality displays all images attached to a single post, As your using the add-media dialogue, they’re added to the current post when imported, i’ll be adding an import option for that at some stage.

  3. hi DD32
great work, your plugin is a must for creating media library from scratch
I’ve got some questions : where there is thousands of pictures to import, wouldn’t a global checkbox be nice to save the pain checking each individually ? And in this case, attaching theme to a post is a bit weird, is there any proper way to avoid that ?
